out with the old

So I've launched a new website, huzzah. There are annoying things with IE6, and maybe you hate the front page, but they'll get fixed or perhaps even IE6 will go away, its all a fun little experiment for me. What this site was always intended to be and hopefully I can keep it up.

The front page Javascript was a discovery while doing something else. I'm sure someone has thought of it before, but I've not seen it used. i was writing a modal dialog and was playing around with some ideas about how to simplify it, and instead of throwing up a second layer to cover the underlying content, I started adjusting the borders. And then there was this lovely little hole.

The next step is to have it just have one color borders and then put a hole in the middle using a PNG-24.

I also thought of putting in controls for the current iteration to make the hole bigger or smaller (which would probably not work so well with the PNG).

The only other thing of much interest is the art DIVs on the "pictures page." Just trying to play around with background images in CSS, and have a simple display for bigger pictures. Here too could do with some dynamic way of changing the size of the images... perhaps on rollover or something.
