Meaningful
Danke Drainer.
And danke to nicE and his recent bukowski post for sending me down a rabbit hole of poetry/animation/mixedmedia shorts for the past few hours at work.
I would approve of any of us making a weird animation/mixedmedia short.
A couple years back at RESFest I saw and loved the animated short, "The Man With The Beautiful Eyes", based on a poem by Bukowski, using a reading of the poem as its audio. Done by this one dude who went on to create this group, Sherbet, based in London, which reminds me of this other animation/mixedmedia group based in London that i was going to go check out but ran out of time last time i was there that made this strange puppet and animation film that nicE told us about a while back that had some frenchie title and lots of bright lights and stars in its online movie poster.
Is London where it's at?
AWS Magazine is certainly where it's at, with reviews AND CLIPS of animated shorts, which can be seen in festivals but rarely elsewhere. Its Dec 2000 issue reviewed both Beautiful Eyes and Father and Daughter, another knockout piece. I have yet to find a full version of the Beautiful Eyes online, but in case anyone was looking to buy smootheRicharde a gift, you could get him these short film DVDs from RESFest. Just in case.
